Fly Fishing Reels

Hardly a day goes by that Abel isn't contacted by a machine shop or a sewing shop in China offering to produce Abel Reels, knives, pliers, vises and our line of Abeluggage faster and cheaper. "Nobody will ever know," we're told.

Abel Reels, along with our other products, are produced in Camarillo, California, United States of America.

Not that we haven't been tempted to shuffle offshore. The wages we pay, insurance, workers comp, electric rates and every other cost of doing business have grown exponentially in recent years. But if we contracted to Chinese sources, what would happen to our 40-plus employees? What would become of our quality, our integrity?

We might as well be the last of a dying breed. We produce every part, even every screw, ourselves. When we engrave Made in the USA on a reel, we mean it.

Nobody will ever know? We will!

You can be confident that your Abel might catch fish all over the world but it was born and raised right here by men and women who love to fly-fish as much as you do.
