Spinner Shirt
Synthetic all-weather fabric keeps this soft-shell shirt comfortable in conditions from windy to wet. The InertiaPlus™ material sheds the elements, yet also holds shape and wears tough due to Primeflex™ fiber technology. A DWR treatment sheds light rain and mechanical stretch prevents bind-up from hindering the cast. Napoleon pockets – with a mini D-ring for nippers or retractors – fit mid-size fly boxes, while a solo sleeve pocket stashes a high-priority tool. Styled with plastic front snaps to prevent saltwater corrosion, two-position cuffs that hang loose or snap tight and a flip-up collar to keep intense sun off the neck.

Fabric

A proprietary Cloudveil stretch woven fabric, InertiaPlus™ is incredibly tough, highly wind-and water-resistant, fast drying, and is blessed with a Super DWR that retains 80 percent of its repellency after 100 industrial washings. An innovative weave comprised of a 50d x 70d Nylon Face and 23d Carbon x 150d cationic polyester interior, InertiaPlus™ is very soft to the touch yet extremely abrasion resistant. The mechanical stretch eliminates the need for stretch fibers which are prone to absorbing moisture. 86% Nylon, 14% Polyester. 168 g/m2.
DWR
An ultra-thin polymer treatment called a durable water repellent, or DWR. This treatment penetrates the fibers and lowers the surface tension of the fabric, causing water to bead up and roll off the garment instead of being absorbed.
Water-repellent outer fabric provides additional insulation and prevents liquid from saturating your Gore garment's outer fabric, a condition known as 'wet out' that can make you feel damp and clammy. Your garment may even feel like it's leaking, although it's not.
DWR is not a waterproofing treatment and by itself does not provide protection in extended wet weather. But used on a weatherproof garment, it will help keep you dry and comfortable by reducing the heat loss through wet fabric
Regular wear and tear, plus exposure to dirt, detergents, insect repellant, and other impurities, causes DWR failure. DWR is not permanent on any fabric. Its effective life depends upon how you care for your garment and how rigorously it is used.
The most effective way to maintain your garment's water and stain repellency is to wash it, rinse it, and put it in your dryer. The washing removes contaminants and the heat from the dryer helps redistribute and bond the DWR on the fabric surface. You can also apply a restorative DWR treatment, available at most outdoor retail stores. |
